Our Story

Isle of Arran Parish Church.

Life on Arran has always been shaped by community, shared moments, and people looking out for one another. Our story is part of that wider island story.

Isle of Arran Parish Church is a Church of Scotland congregation serving communities across the island. We bring together people from across Arran, connecting local churches and communities in Brodick, Lochranza, Shiskine, Whiting Bay and Kilmory. Each place has its own character, but together they form one island wide community.

A Church Shaped by Island life.

Church life on Arran has never been centred in one place. Instead, it has grown in different villages and towns, shaped by the people who live here and the needs of island life. Over time, those local communities have come together to share leadership, support one another, and work as one church across the island.

Today, that same spirit continues. We are still a network of local communities, working together to support island life in practical and meaningful ways.

Rooted in People and Place.

Our story is not only about buildings or services. It is about people. People who gather each week, people who volunteer their time, people who support neighbours, and people who simply want to be part of something that cares for the island.

Across Arran, we offer Sunday gatherings, community activities, and support at important moments in life. These include weddings, baptisms, funerals, and times when people need care or connection.

We also work alongside local groups and individuals to support community life throughout the year. From small gatherings to island wide events, our aim is to help create spaces where people feel welcome and included.

Part of Everyday Life on Arran.

You will find church life happening in many different ways across the island. Sometimes it is a Sunday service. Sometimes it is a community event. Sometimes it is a quiet conversation or a visit to someone at home.

Wherever it happens, the heart of it remains the same. We are here to support people, build connection, and contribute to island life in a positive and practical way.

Looking Ahead.

Our story is still being written. As Arran continues to grow and change, we continue to listen, learn, and serve alongside our communities. We want to remain a place where people can find support, belonging, and space to explore life and faith at their own pace.

If you are new to the island, visiting, or have lived here for years, you are part of this story too.
